Monday night turned out to be one of the glamorous nights at the Miss Universe pageant. Monday night, i.e. 16th January 2017 was the Governor’s Ball of Miss Universe, and the event was graced by the 86 stunners of Miss Universe 2016, along with the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach. The Miss Universe Governor’s Ball was held at the SMX Convention Center.
The Governor’s Ball is a tradition in Miss Universe in which pageant winners, host countries, sponsors, and many more extend support to the Miss Universe charities. The event was also attended by pageant sponsor and former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis "Chavit" Singson. Pageant partners Okada Manila, Solar Entertainment Inc., and SM Lifestyle Entertainment Corp, as well as regional pageant sponsors were also the part of the Miss Universe Governor’s Ball.
DOT (Department of Tourism) Secretary Wanda Teo, along with the member of the DOT was also present at the event. Former Miss Universe winners from Philippines, Gloria Diaz and Margarita "Margie" Moran were also present. The host for the night was Joey Mead-King and the night was glamorised with performances by Frenchie Dy, Radha, Reynan dal Anay, Jed Madela and Jonalyn Viray.
“Tonight we officially mark the opening of the 65th Miss Universe competition. The long haul to bring the pageant back to the Philippines has ended. We have succeeded,” said former Ilocos Sur governor Luis Chavit Singson, the host committee chairman in his opening remark.
”I can’t wait to meet them, hear their stories, hear about their experience and I look forward to making more friends,” said the very excited Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.
