The 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant is off to a great start as Miss U.S. Virgin Islands Carolyn Carter reached arrived in the Philippines on 7th January 2017. The finale of Miss Universe 2016 is slated to be held on 30th January 2017, and at the conclusion of the finale Pia Wurtzbach will pass on her crown to her successor.
26 year old Carolyn is making her third visit to the country, and she is happy to be back to the country which makes her feel at home. Carolyn was welcomed by Filipino fans at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. The beauty queen took selfies with fans and looked elated to be back to Philippines. Before departing for Philippines, Carolyn expressed her excitement in her blog as she wrote, “January will be a big month as I celebrate my 27th birthday (January 12) by arriving in the Philippines and beginning the Miss Universe 2016 competition! Which is the BEST way I could have ever imagined celebrating the big 2-7!” Carolyn is new to the pageant and has previously been a part of Miss World (2010), Miss Supranational (2011), and Miss Earth (2012) pageants.

The next contestant to make the arrival is Miss Universe Guyana 2016 Soyini Fraser who arrived in the country early Monday morning. Fraser who is excited to be in Philippines, said she can’t wait to taste Filipino food. Fraser is a former Miss Earth contestant and is currently a host and public relations officer for a TV network in Guyana. Fraser is also recognized as a Special Ambassador by the Guyana Tourism Authority and aspires to share the warmth of her Guyanese people throughout the Miss Universe pageant.
Next contestant who is scheduled to reach Philippines is Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks. Monyque is traveling to the Philippines with former Miss Cayman Islands Stacy-Ann Kelly via New York and Hong Kong, and is scheduled to arrive on Jan. 12. Brooks represented Cayman Islands at the recently concluded Miss World pageant and talking about her MW experience Brooks says that her experience was more than she imagined. The MW pageant was able to receive great exposure.
