Demi-Leigh and Margaret Gardiner rocks the red carpet of Golden Globes Award

09 Jan 2018 | Kanupriya Bhardwaj

South African queens Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner graced the red carpet of Golden Globes and they were looking every bit gorgeous in black gowns.

Both the queens were present there to talk about ‘Time’s Up’, a unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere. It addresses the systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that has kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential.

Demi-Leigh had beautiful words to say about this cause, “I was proud to stand in solidarity with women all over the world that have ever been affected by any form of inequality or abuse. The time of tolerating injustice is up. If you would like to show your support, you can donate to the Time’s Up Legal Defence Fund that will provide subsidized legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace.”

About Margaret, Demi-Leigh had only kind words to say, “I got to share this incredibly special moment with Margaret Gardiner, the first Miss Universe to be crowned from South Africa. Thank you for inviting me as your guest and for welcoming me with warm open arms.”

Demi-Leigh was invited to this prestigious by Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner as her personal guest.  As both these Miss Universe queens are from South Africa, this was a really sweet gesture from Margaret’s side. Margaret is a journalist and also a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that votes on and hosts the Golden Globes.

Billed as the most rasping event in the showbiz calendar, the champagne-drenched Hollywood Foreign Press Association's annual prize-giving is a draw for filmmakers and actors looking to create some buzz ahead of the Oscars in March. The likes of Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Oprah Winfrey, Seth Meyers and much more were there at the event to give more power to women all around the globe.

All in all, it was a star-studded event and it was an honour to see Demi-Leigh and Margaret joining hands and enjoying a spectacular show together.
