We all know the love for beauty pageants, the people of Philippines have, and it comes as no surprise if Miss Universe Organization is keen on holding the 2018 edition of Miss Universe in Philippines. The Department of Tourism Secretary, Wanda Corazon Teo recently revealed the same to Philstar.com.

“Miss Universe organisation finds Philippines the best venue to host Miss Universe 2018 as compared to other countries. They want the beaches, they want our food. They love being in our country. They see that the Philippines is a very nice country,” Teo said in an interview.

This year it seems that the Miss Universe Organization was also interested in holding Miss Universe 2017 in Philippines only. They wanted a back-to-back hosting in Philippines after 2016, but the same could not happen due to the already scheduled Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Summit that was to take place in Philippines. Therefore, the President of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte had to decline the offer.

In fact, it also came out that Miss Universe organization considers Miss Universe 2016 as the best show till date.

The DOT Undersecretary Kat de Castro disclosed, “According to the higher-ups of the Miss Universe Organization, the best show to date they had is still the one they had in the Philippines last January.”

Till now Philippines has been host to 3 Miss Universe pageants, first in 1974, then in 1994 and the last one took place in 2016 and indeed 2016 edition of the pageant was spectacular in all ways possible when Iris Mittenaere from France was crowned the winner.

The Miss Universe 2017 delegation led by Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere with Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters are currently touring in the Philippines to promote the country’s tourism. It would be interesting to see whether the Philippines will become a host to Miss Universe pageant again next year.
