Catriona Gray was the fourth Filipina to bag the prestigious crown of Miss Universe in 2018. Just few days away from passing on her title, Catriona returned to Build Series in New York for an interview along with Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was promoting the upcoming Miss Universe 2019 pageant that is being held in Atlanta on 8th December 2019.
The model mentioned about her plans after her reign of Miss Universe 2018 ends as she gets ready to pass on her title. “I am also a pageant fan aside from being Miss Universe, so I’m like secretly fangirling on the inside”, the Filipino-Australian beauty said. She states that of course passing on the title is going to be sentimental for her but she is also very excited to face new chapter and challenges coming her way. She especially mentioned that she is excited to see the girls shine.
Catriona says that Miss Universe’s crown had a huge impact on her life and she hopes to continue her creative pursuits and advocacy work after she passes on the title. The model explained that she is passionate about music and wants to continue being a spokesperson. She wants to work with the causes that are very close to her heart as working closely with them fulfills her as an individual.
Catriona wants to write her own songs and collaborate with different artists and put on some real good music for the world to listen. Gray is a well-known model, creative artist, a songwriter, beauty queen and a singer. She holds a master’s certificate in Music Theory from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
When asked about the most important lesson she learned as Miss Universe, the model replied “To stay true to myself”. She explained that being the center of an international platform that is Miss Universe involved a lot of people and their voices telling her about certain opinions and things to do. The journey of being Miss Universe for Catriona has been a journey to trust her inner instinct and stay true to what she believed in.
The coronation ceremony of Miss Universe 2019 is just few days away and every candidate is prepping up to give their best for the crown. While Gray wants to step back and “soak in everything that has happened” during her reign, she is also excited for the new journey of her life.
