Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa crowned Miss Universe 2019

Miss Universe 2019, the 68th edition of Miss Universe, held its grand coronation night tonight i.e. 8th December 2019 at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States where Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa was crowned the new queen. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray of Philippines.

Zozibini Tunzi gave a stellar performance at the Miss Universe 2019 stage to win the third crown for her country. The 26-year-old beauty queen impressed everyone with her beauty and grace. She holds a bachelors degree in public relations and image management. Zozibini is the first black woman to be crowned Miss Universe since Leila Lopes won in 2010. The stunning South African beauty gave impressive and fluent answers to her questions as she mesmerised the judges.

Second Runner-Up – Gabriela Tafur Nader Miss Universe Colombia 2019

The coronation night began as ninety gorgeous beauties walked on the stage representing their respective countries. The panel of judges sat to make the first cut to Top 20 as the scoring from preliminary competition was taken into account. Not only did these delegates impress the audience, but were mega favourites for the crown. The twenty beautiful ladies then went on to give their opening speeches as they talked about their advocacy and the change they want to bring in the world. After that, the judges made the next cut top 10 which included Maëva Coucke of France, Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir of Iceland, Frederika Alexis Cull of Indonesia, Kelin Poldy Rivera Kroll of Peru, Cheslie Kryst of United States of America, Gabriela Tafur Náder of Colombia, Paweensuda Drouin (Fahsai Paweensuda) of Thailand, Sofía Montserrat Aragón Torres of Mexico, Madison Sara Anderson Berríos of Puerto Rico and Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.

After that Philippines's Gazini Christiana Ganados was awarded the Best in National Costume award while Poland’s Olga Bulawa took home the coveted Miss Congeniality award. The top 10 beauties then paraded the stage in their stunning swimsuits and evening gowns.

The cut to Top 5 was then made as Gabriela Tafur Náder of Colombia, Paweensuda Drouin (Fahsai Paweensuda) of Thailand, Sofía Montserrat Aragón Torres of Mexico, Madison Sara Anderson Berríos of Puerto Rico and Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa entered as the finalists. Each of these beauties then went through the gruelling question and answer round, answering with fluency and sincerity.

As Top 5 delegates waited for the final cut, the performers entertained the audience. The Top 3 were then selected who went through the last round of question and answer as the jury took their final decision. All in all, this edition also witnessed stunning performances from the contestants who amazed everyone with their compassion, kindness and elegance. Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Universe!
