As Miss Universe and just a human being who stands upto the racial discrimination in the world, Zozibini Tunzi spoke against a certain racial comment made by Mugg & Bean franchise part-owner Russel Kruger. Looks like the whole company drew the ire of Miss Universe 2019 as she brought this into light.
Tunzi responded to a screenshot of a post by East London businessman Russel Kruger whose post featured a picture of a child whose face was painted black and was captioned: “Using my kids to apply for business grants hope we come right.” But Miss Universe was having none of it as she condemned it publically in a tweet. She wrote –
Zozibini Tunzi’s tweet drew a response out of the company as well who confirmed that Russel is a part-owner of the franchise and they will be taking necessary action against the former as soon as possible.
Not just this, Russell also had to explain his actions as soon as the whole thing came under the spotlight as he said that his child had played with his phone and apologized profusely. He also said the post was not intended to be racist and offered his humble apology.
If at all there was any doubt about the reach a Miss Universe winner has, it has all been subsided now with Zozibini’s swift action. The Human Rights Commission of South Africa has also been asked to investigate the incident and Kruger has since deleted all his social media accounts.
