The Miss Universe Organization hosted the preliminary competition on 14th May 2021 at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Hotel, Florida, the USA where gorgeous delegates paraded in their stunning swimsuits and evening gowns to win over the judges and the audience before the finale night beckons. The preliminary night was hosted by Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi and Miss Universe 2017 Demi Leigh Nel Peters.
We’ve selected our favorites from the evening gown round who we believe walked on-stage with confidence, grace, and impressed everyone with their gorgeous evening gown. So, let’s look at the favorites for the evening gown competition from the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2020:
Argentina
Miss Universe Argentina 2020 Alina Luz Akselrad looked exquisite in her evening gown as she walked on stage on the preliminary night of Miss Universe 2020. The gorgeous outfit was designed by Nidal Nouaihed and each crystal embodied in the outfit is the reflection of love and the work of achieving a goal and showing that each action is a sum of very valuable qualities. The diva paired the gown with simple yet elegant earrings and her beautiful smile.
Brazil
Miss Universe Brazil 2020 Julia Gama’s evening gown at the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2020 looked stunning and a perfect fit for the Brazilian beauty. Daniela Setogutti designed the evening gown intending to impress with its brightness and arabesque designs; the canvas refers to the final stage of a star, which is characterized by an extremely explosive brilliant. The designer explains that the game of more than 50 thousand crystals in silver, aurora borealis, night blue, and crystal (Swarovski and Preciosa) colors, embellished on Italian illusion tulle, hints at the irregularity of the star. Julia walked on stage with the utmost confidence and honor of carrying such a beautiful evening gown which she paired with simple and small earrings to keep her hair flowing like everyday hair.
Canada
Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens in a silver evening gown embellished with crystals was one of the highlights of the preliminary competition as the diva never fails to impress the audience and the jury members with her confidence and strong personality. Nova makes Miss Universe 2020 royal with her presence and in that stunning evening gown, she surely managed to steal some hearts and make a statement of being powerful as always.
Colombia
Miss Universe Colombia 2020 Laura Olascuaga donned a gorgeous silver and blue embellished crystal evening gown designed by Julio Gonzalez which she carried with grace and confidence. Laura’s evening gown consisted of a column with a central opening in the skirt, a deep V-neckline, playing with the waves, the fusion of the movement of blue fire with the force and play of colors of the waves, ending in the tranquility of the white that evokes the sea foam. Laura looked exquisite as she walked on stage and her gown was appreciated by the entire pageant community as well.
Dominican Republic
Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2020 Kimberly Jimenez Rodriguez’s elegant and subtle evening gown was one of the highlights at the preliminary competition because the diva decided to ditch the glamorous evening gown with an outfit that makes a statement. Kimberly wore an evening gown with a white flowing length that was painted by the 'Creating is Growing' foundation for children with Down syndrome. The statement evening gown was designed by Gustavo Arango. It looks like an ideal evening gown for a stage that is powerful and gives the divas a chance to be powerful and positively impact society.
India
Miss Universe India 2020 Adline Quadros Castelino’s custom Falguni Shane Peacock evening gown is a story. The evening gown reflects Adline in the sense that she is a girl who overcame adversity to shine on the Miss Universe stage with a smile on her face.Adline’s evening gown was elegant yet exquisite in its way because it had a contrast of brownish-golden color with silverish-white color which made it appear stunning. It had crystals embellished on it and Adline’s subtle makeup and jewelry made her appearance on stage heavenly.
Malaysia
Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James donned an evening gown designed by Rizman Ruzaini. It was a beautiful cut that enhanced Francisca’s beauty and body figure. The gorgeous monochromatic ombre gown adapted from the story of the fairytale saga, Puteri Santubong, who is very fond of weaving cloth, also has the character of pure white Nian in her heart. has been sworn to be a great mountain in Sarawak after a struggle with Puteri Sejinjang. After Francisca was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, Rizman began designing the evening gown, and the diva did it justice as she walked on stage with confidence, grace, and honor.
Nicaragua
Miss Universe Nicaragua 2020 Ana Marcelo walked the preliminary stage in a Carlos René Cruz evening gown. The stunning evening gown hugged Ana’s body in the right way that showcased the diva’s perfectly toned body figure. The diva paired the evening gown with small earrings which completed the entire look. The evening gown had white and blue pearls along with crystals, which made the dress shine the way Ana did when she walked on stage.
Nepal
Miss Universe Nepal 2020 Anshika Sharma’s beautiful and elegant evening gown was designed by Giannina Azar which looked flawless on the diva as she walked on stage. Anshika’s dedication towards winning the crown for Nepal reflects on her performance on-stage. Keeping her makeup subtle, tying up her hair, and completing her look with small earrings worked in the favor of Nepali beauty.
Philippines
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo’s eye-catchy yellow evening gown by Furne One Amato was one of the highlights of the prelims at Miss Universe 2020. The designer describes the color as the color of joy and celebration. Rabiya’s evening gown had a one-sided neckline tulle gown which was elegantly encrusted with Citrine Swarovski crystals on the bodice cascading to the hem and cape over alabaster Swarovski components, glass beads, and paillettes. The dramatic and fitted silhouette adds interest and pizzazz on its own. The cape added royalty to the gown, and its beadwork was inspired by the radiance of the Philippine sun, which symbolizes positivity and optimism. Hope for a new tomorrow, a world with endless beauty and happiness. The diva looked stunning as she walked on stage in her evening gown that reflected joy and celebration.
Romania
Miss Universe Romania 2020 Bianca Trisin’s evening gown was designed by Michale Cinco, which enhanced the beauty of Romanian beauty. The evening gown was subtle and yet elegant in its way, which is why it’s one of our favorites. The side crystals added to the evening gown were the highlight, and Bianca carried off the evening gown flawlessly, as we will undoubtedly see in the finals.
Thailand
Miss Universe Thailand 2020 Amanda Obdam’s gorgeous golden colored evening gown designed by Donnawat Perkchinnaworn was a beauty. ‘Fireworks Embellished’ was designed in two pieces and we all know that Amanda carries off her outfits in such a beautiful way that makes everyone impressed and in awe. The sleek back bun with earrings completed Amanda’s look and we couldn’t have been more impressed with the Thai queen.
Venezuela
Miss Universe Venezuela 2020 Mariangel Villasmil Arteaga’s red hot evening gown reminds us of the all-time favorite evening gowns that just impress you as soon as they appear on-stage. The evening gown was designed by Douglas Tapia, and Mariangel completed the look with red lipstick and red droplet earrings. The Venezuelan beauty walked on-stage with elegance and confidence, which was impressive and beautiful.
