With all the speculations doing rounds, due to the ongoing scare of coronavrius, there are high chances that Miss Universe 2020 will not be held this year. Even though there hasn’t been any confirmation from any official sources, the news is still making rounds about the postponement.

Denisse Quiñones, the director of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico, spoke about her national contest in regard to the current situation of the pandemic in a statement as she admitted that the Miss Universe would be carried during the first three months of next year, denying once for all the rumors that the contest will be held at the end of this year.

The decision also benefits the audience as Miss World will most likely be held in December, and generally the Miss Universe always covers a larger audience. It won’t, perhaps, be like last year as all the eyes in the end were on Miss World because it was the contest that closed the season. It is also a sensible thing to avoid a greater focus of contagion and so that the national contests can choose their representatives without the need to expose themselves or when the pandemic passes.

Although several national contests are adapting to the virtual which is a good way to keep the momentum going. Thus, Miss Universe 2020 will likely be held between January and March 2021 as Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi will witness a longer reign than her predecessors. This is also right in a way since Zozi did not get a chance to travel during her reign and had to fulfill her responsibilities from her New York home.
