India’s Harnaaz Sandhu created history as she was crowned Miss Universe 2021 on 12th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel succeeding Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico for the title. Harnaaz broke the spell of 21 years for her country as Lara Dutta last won the crown of Miss Universe in year 2000.

Ever since her crowning, the diva has been using the platform and the influence that comes along to make a change in the society. Currently in the New York City, the queen is completely busy with her responsibilities as Miss Universe titleholder.

Harnaaz Sandhu took a rapid HIV test at the GMHC in New York yesterday. The testing event was organized by the Latino Commission on AIDS, which has been partnering with the Miss Universe Organization for the past 15 years to spread HIV awareness. The diva learnt about the importance of taking care of one's sexual health. She also encouraged people around the world to be comfortable about the same.

Sharing the experience, Harnaaz said that she was very the warmth and professionalism of everyone at the GMHC impressed her, made her extremely comfortable, and the test was extremely quick. “I encourage each one of you to get yourself tested and spread the awareness regarding HIV. It is manageable and we can protect a lot of lives all around the world. This is your life, your health, don’t feel uncomfortable talking about your sexual health.”

Prior to this, she also volunteered with ‘God’s Love We Deliver’ and helped chop vegetables, label soup containers, scoop grains, and more. With a mission to improve the health and well-being of men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses, the organisation cooks and delivers medically-tailored meals for free, to every client without regard to income.

Harnaaz is now a role model for millions of people all around the world after obtaining the renowned worldwide title, and she is already doing an excellent job with her strong vision and mission for society.
