The 70th edition of Miss Universe pageant, Miss Universe 2021, is set to be held on 12th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel where Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
The delegates are in the last leg of pre pageant activities and are already done with the head to head challenge. Contestants are currently underway with the judge’s interview round and next up is the much watched out for, national costume round, set to be held tomorrow at 7 PM (local time).
Taking everyone with force is Thailand’s Anchilee Scott Kemmis’ costume ‘Nang Khad’ (Woman of Steel) for the event. The national costume is designed by none other than Jaturon Raepech who took inspiration from the traditional martial art from known as ‘Muay Thai’. Before the advent of cushioned boxing gloves, Thai fighters used to wrap hemp ropes around their hands and forearms; thus, giving the name ““Muay Khad-Chueak”, which literally means “boxing with hand ropes”.
The Thai costume is crafted with rope hitching, knotting and lacing technique called ‘macramé’, to form an outfit that represents the art form. The woven ropes symbolize the unity and strength of the nation.
“Straight punch-cut, short-long sweep, hit the target. Elbow-knee hit, push back, jab lower arm, teeth pressed, slashed, clamped, try. Both feet stand and kick to support. The shin swings, sweeping, stretching the legs into the front of the pair. Knees bend, look towards the oblique, oblique curve. Hands push, will defend, must fight. Keep the sole of the foot. Kick, flick, cut-straight. The head thinks, poses, do not be impatient. Contemplate, to attack and dodge, to encounter a confrontation, must be elaborate. Set up to defend, know how to fix Mae Mai Muay,” the organization cheered their warrior through powerful wordplay on their social media.
The costume is perfect example of strength being beautiful, Anchilee is set to conquer the Miss Universe competition this year in her warrior outfit.
