As the countdown for the Miss Universe 2016 finale begins, the excitement takes a kick start too. On 30th January 2017, Pia Wurtzbach of Philippines will pass on her crown to her successor in Manila, Philippines, and a new queen will reign for the year 2017. All the delegates look strong and promising to clinch the coveted crown this year. Amidst all the hustle bustle of Miss Universe 2016 pageant, Australia is gearing up for its next Miss Universe contender, already.

The selection process for the next Miss Universe Australia has already begun, under the new directors Troy and Sophia Barbagallo. The first registration of the Miss Universe Australia 2016 pageant was held in Brisbane, Queensland.  The event was an opportunity for girls to meet the professionals from the industry. The interested aspirants took the opportunity to register themselves for the pageant to compete at the national level.

After the registration process, 16 girls were shortlisted to move ahead to the Queensland State Finals to be held in March. A series of other registrations in different capital regions will take place before the Queensland finals. Reigning Miss Universe Australia Caris Tiivel was also present at the event. Caris is ready to represent Australia at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. The beauty recently unveiled her National Costume for the Miss Universe 2016, but ended up facing criticism.

Caris’ striking resemblance to Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has increased her popularity meter already. Her amazing figure and confident stature will come as advantage to her while competing at Miss Universe 2016.
