Miss Universe 2021, the 70th edition of Miss Universe, will be held on held on 12th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel. Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale as eighty stunning beauties will compete at the most coveted pageant in the world.
This year, only one delegate is competing at Miss Universe 2021 from Oceania - Daria Varlamova Miss Universe Australia 2021. Daria was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2021 on 19th October 2021 as she competed against 28 other candidates at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins in Melbourne.
Daria is a Russian-Australian business consultant, model, writer, actress and beauty queen who is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The stunning beauty was born in Bryansk, Russia and raised in Western Australia, Australia. Daria is fluent in Russian and English. She works at a university as a student advisor and is currently working towards her Master of Counselling to become a psychotherapist and work in the mental health space.
Being a proud Russian immigrant and having moved to Australia at the age of 8, the cultural heritage of Daria undoubtedly shaped a crucial part of who she is as a person. The stellar beauty lives and breathes her advocacy, being passionate about mental health awareness. She is also doing further study to give herself more credibility within this space.
On her advocacy, she spoke, “I’m incredibly passionate about destigmatising mental health issues. I think they are just as valid as physical ailments, and therefore should be treated with the same level of courtesy and care. I hope to continue to use my social media platforms to raise awareness around mental health.”
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Daria was named one of Yahoo Finance’s Top 21 Health and Wellness Influencers for 2021. From March 2021 to May 2021, she volunteered at Beautiful Minds Australia by providing mental wellness workshops for young girls aged 7-12.
Daria has a vast pageant experience; In 2014, she tried out for the Miss Universe Australia program but did not make it through to the state finalist round. On 28th October 2020, she competed against 25 other candidates at Miss Universe Australia 2020 at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins in Melbourne where she was fourth runner-up.
With her strong advocacy, her stunning beauty and relentless efforts to bring home the coveted crown, Daria will surely be a strong contender for the international crown.
