Anna Burdzy Miss Universe Great Britain 2017 Exclusive Interview

Britain has selected the perfect representative for the Miss Universe 2017 pageant – Anna Burdzy. The 25-year-old law graduate is not new to the world of beauty pageants. She was the first runner up in 2014 MU Great Britain pageant and also took part in the 2015 pageant. This year she finally achieved what she had set her eyes on.

Anna is also all set to obtain her Master's degree in human rights law. In the future, she hopes to work for the prestigious United Nations and open her own charity. Her sheer determination and confidence are few of the many things that make her the perfect choice for the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.

In an interview with Angelopedia, the beautiful Anna Burdzy shared her thoughts, experiences, and aspirations in the world of pageantry. Below is the transcript of her interview...

Q. Congratulations on being crowned as Miss Universe Great Britain 2017! When was the moment when you actually realize that you are a beauty queen now?
Thank you! The morning after the final, I had a meeting with my National Director to go through all the formalities – I think this was one of the first moments that my winning had sunk in.

Q. What qualities of a queen do you believe you have always had in you?
I am hard-working, determined and passionate about what I do. I think these qualities drove me to be the best I can be and eventually helped me win the crown!

Q. What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?
I always watched Miss Universe when I was younger and it always felt like an unachievable dream I wouldn't even consider. As I grew up and followed the journey of previous Miss Universe GB's, they inspired me to try for myself.

Q. Did you face any moment of disappointment with yourself during the pageant journey, and how did you overcome it?
I took part in MUGB three times, each time was special in its own way and taught me a lot. I am always proud of myself for going through the process despite the outcome. There is no such thing as a  bad experience in life as every experience teaches you something! It is always important to stay true to yourself though.

Q. How would you inspire those who are deemed not beautiful or not perfectly shaped?
There is no such thing as a 'not beautiful' person or a 'perfectly shaped' person. Everyone is created uniquely and everyone is beautiful in their own way. No one is perfect!

Q. If you were anything but a human, what would it be and why?
I would be an elephant! I love the creatures as they are so intelligent, loving, peaceful and beautiful – plus they live in warm climates, which is a positive!

Q. Would you like to share any dream or cherished moment of your childhood?
My dream was always to be successful with my education and career. I am so proud to have achieved my dream of obtaining a Law Degree and now being on course for a Human Rights Law Master's Degree – I look forward to what comes next!

Q. What is the most important thing/person in your life, the thing/person you feel blessed to have?
My mum! She is my best friend, my biggest supporter and generally the best human being ever. I am blessed to have such an amazing relationship with her and to be able to call her my mum.

Q. Of these three which one superpower would you want to have a day and how would you use it? - 1) Be invisible, 2) Travel anywhere in a blink of an eye, 3) Change your appearance..?
2 – Travel anywhere in the blink of an eye! I LOVE travelling! In 2014 I was lucky enough to travel to a different country every single month, something I hope to do in my reign as MUGB! I already have the Philippines, India, Spain and Bulgaria planned until November & then wherever the Miss Universe competition will be held! I love meeting people from around the world, learning about their cultures and listening to their stories.

Q. Which one contestant did you secretly admire but feared would take away the crown this year, before the finale night?
I couldn’t choose just one girl, the final was so tough with so many incredible girls! The crown could have gone to a number of them.

Q. If you were a judge of a beauty pageant, which qualities would you mark the contestants on?
Aside from their beauty, I would look to see what they have achieved outside of the pageant, what their interests are and how they hope to make a change in the world. I would also note how they carry themselves, whether they are eloquent and whether they have a fire in their belly that will drive them to work hard to succeed in MU!

Q. How would you like to spend this year of your life as a beauty queen?
I want to make the most out of my year by taking every good opportunity offered to me - to travel the world, help various charities, make friends and have FUN!

Q. What message would you like to give to your fans on Angelopedia?
Believe in yourself, love yourself and work hard to achieve your dreams! If at first, you don’t succeed, try and try again <3
