The national Greek beauty pageant institution Star GS Hellas has announced that for the upcoming Miss Universe 2021 pageant, Katerina Kouvoutsaki Star GS Hellas 2021, will be replaced by Sofia Arapogianni Miss GS Hellas 2021 for health purposes. They wrote, “As of today, the new MISS UNIVERSE GREECE 2021 is Sofia Arapogianni. Our beauty Queen Katerina Kouvoutsaki will not be able to represent our country, in the crown of the universe, for health reasons, which do not allow her to travel. We wish all the best to MISS GS HELLAS 2021.”
Sofia is 22 years-old, stands 174cm tall and studies at Merchant Marine Academy. She is originally from the beautiful island of Greece Ithaca and Odysseus. She was born to a Greek father and Venezuelan mother. She speaks Greek, English and Spanish.
The newly appointed queen also took to her social media to share, “I feel blessed to be the first Miss Universe Greece from my national pageant GS HELLAS, who take part in the largest world pageant, in Miss Universe 2021, I am proud of my country and ready to show the meaning and values of Greek beauty to the whole world.”
“My presence at Miss Universe 2021 marks a new era for Greece, since the organization I represent GS HELLAS and consequently my own country wants to show that Greece returns to Miss Universe stronger than ever. In my pageant GS Hellas organization we are looking the harmony between the inside beauty and external beauty,” she added.
Sofia Arapogianni succeeds Miss Universe Greece 2018 Ioanna Bella who represented her country at Miss Universe 2018. The country did not send any representative to Miss Universe in 2019 and 2020. The country holds one Miss Universe crown under its belt when Corinna Tsopei was crowned Miss Universe 1964.
Sofia will represent Greece at the upcoming Miss Universe 2021 pageant, scheduled to be held on 12th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel where the reigning Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor.
