Virginia Argueta of Jutiapa has been crowned as Miss Universe Guatemala 2016 at the finale held on August 28’ 2016. Virginia succeeds Jeimmy Aburto, Miss Universe Guatemala 2015, and will now represent Guatemala at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

Virginia battled out 14 other stunners to clinch the coveted title of Miss Universe Guatemala 2016. Virginia along with other contestants including Karla Sagastume, Aura War, Sharon Herrera, Nidia Quixchan, María José Castillo, Katherine Gonzalez, Sucell Barrientos, Ruth Chachón, Anagladys Jeréz, Marioly Perdomo, Hellen xata, Claudia Ribera, Sofia Alvarado and Adrea Sosa walked the ramp donning their respective swimsuits and evening gowns.

The finale of Miss Universe Guatemala was held in the City of Guatemala and was attended by special guests including Carlos Peña, Napoleon Robleto, Fabiola Roudha, Esperanto and DJ Francis Davila.

At the same pageant, Izabal, Melida Marioly Perdomo was adjudged the first runner-up and will now compete at the Miss Supranational 2016 pageant; while Jennifer Sofia Alvadaro was adjudged the second runner-up and will now represent Guatemala at the Miss United Continents 2016.
