After a few delays and a cancelled flight, Jamaica’s Toshami Calvin arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana with a bang! Even if she wasn’t on the radar as the crown favourite, Toshami arrived with confidence with a look and style on point. Ofcourse having a cousin sister who has already conquered Miss World crown (it’s none other than Toni-Ann Singh!) has helped her nurture the dream of conquering Miss Universe.

Arriving at the MUBA cosmetics photoshoot along with doing the fittings and registrations, Toshami has shown that she is in it to win it! She has an effortless look and ofcourse the support of the whole Jamaica behind her. A Jamaican model and an advocate for children, Calvin is definitely a dark horse of the competition because she has arrived with confidence and determination.

Toshami holds an associate degree and a master’s degree in health studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Being a Miss Universe also means to be an advocate for humanitarian causes to bring a change in the world. Toshami works as a registered behavioral technician providing therapy for children on the autism spectrum, a cause close to her heart. With her strong advocacy, her sincerity and hard work, Calvin will surely be a strong contender this year. Jamaica is yet to pioneer its win at Miss Universe.

Miss Universe 2022, the 71st Miss Universe pageant, is all set to be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States on 14th January 2023. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
