Serene is not new to pageantry as she has participated in Miss World Malaysia 2015 where she was placed as the first runner-up. She has always dreamt of being a beauty queen and representing Malaysia at Miss Universe stage. She explains that even though she has experience in the field of pageantry, every pageant is different and preparation for it should be different. She wishes to learn something new during the competition and desires to be an inspiration for others too.

Serene has always had a clear mindset that she wants to represent Malaysia at an international level. She has always worked hard towards reaching to where she is today and is extremely thankful to all the people who have helped and motivated her to be here. Serene would like to use the platform of Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 to advocate about two very essential things in the world right now. Body Shaming and Mental Illness. According to the diva, she feels that as the time has passed and technology has intervened with the lives of human beings; the people have started to be more brutal and inhuman towards each other. They don’t leave a chance to pull the other person down without thinking how much their comments can hurt the person.

The diva plans to raise awareness about the body shaming as she was bullied in school to an extent where she wanted to change her school. But her mother has always taught her to fight back and similarly, she wants to raise awareness about body shaming and bullying  in order to provide support and comfort to the ones who deal with body shaming daily. She wants them to know that nothing in the world can stop them from being what they want to be. She would urge them to accept themselves as they are and give it back to the body shaming by practicing self-love. She also wants to talk about Mental Illness as at this point in live, everyone is dealing with stress, anxiety or depression but won’t talk about it because no one would listen. She wants to tell the people that they are not alone, they have someone out there to listen to them or talk to them. She urges people to be a little emphatic towards someone who comes out and says that he/she is dealing with mental illness.

Someone close to the diva is suffering from schizophrenia which is a type of common but severe mental illness. Due to the lack of knowledge and 'advice’ from people who are not educated on the topic, the diva’s family couldn’t understand what he/she was going through. After trying solution after solution, they took the person to a professional doctor, who properly diagnosed the symptoms to be schizophrenia. This is one of the reasons why she is keen on advocating people about mental illness and how much knowledge about it is essential especially in today’s time. She believes that we should not turn our backs to them but guide them to the proper institutions to rehabilitate. Along with Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, she hopes to spread a movement in which to create MORE public awareness for these sorts of issues and symptoms.

The diva strongly believes that her confidence and experience can help her win the title of the Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 and represent Malaysia at Miss Universe 2020. She has also shared few posts on her social media about ‘Women Empowerment’. She captioned the picture, “I wish more women realized that helping another woman win, cheering her on, praying for her, or sharing a resource with her, does not take away from the blessings coming to them. In fact, the more you GIVE, the more you RECEIVE. Empowering women doesn’t come from selfishness but rather from selflessness.”

Serene is confident, strong and dedicated towards winning the title and has already become people’s favorite with her advocacy and optimism. Her approach towards anything is positive and she is ready for whatever the results come. She’d want to win but is focusing on learning and advocating people more. She wants to be more than just a beauty queen but a role model for people who’d look up to.

With her confidence, experience and optimism; she has an advantage over all the contestants in the pageant but can we win the title? Wishing the diva all the best for the finale.
