Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 Lesley Cheam is currently preparing for her international stint as she gears up to represent Malaysia at Miss Universe 2022. Recently, the stunning beauty revealed her national costume which will be showcasing at the international platform.

According to the designer Hatta Dolmat, the national costume was inspired by the Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia standing at 4,095m. It is located in Ranau district, West Coast Division of Sabah, Malaysia. It is third-highest peak of an island on Earth, and 20th most prominent mountain in the world by topographic prominence.

In the costume, the use of silver and grey colors symbolizes the large pieces of granite along Mount Kinabalu. The color choice also exudes strength and confidence, which fits Mount Kinabalu's position as the highest mountain in Malaysia. The costume also combines a sustainable theme of being kind to the environment, which is in line with Lesley’s campaign to be kind to everyone including the environment. The costume fabric and ornaments are made from materials such as wooden leather, and recycled PET or PET (polyethylene terephthalate).

The evening gown, also made by designer Hatta Dolmat, was inspired by nebula, clouds of dust and gases within galaxies. Lesley is surely going to look stunning wearing the gown at the finale of Miss Universe 2022 which will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States on 14th January 2023. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
