Hnin Thway Yu Aung, a 21-year-old Nursing Science student, was crowned Miss Universe Myanmar 2018 by her predecessor Miss Universe Myanmar 2017 Zun Than Sin. The event was held at Gandamar Grand Ballroom, Yangon on 30th September 2017. Standing at 168 cm, the Asian beauty amazed the crowd with her incredible talent and timeless beauty.

Hnin, born and raised in Tachilek, Shan State, Myanmar, graduated high school from Basic Education High School Tachileik. Currently, she is a third year Nursing Science student at Kyain Tung University and wishes to make a career in the medical field while helping all those who cannot afford basic treatment.

Right after winning the competition, Hnin humbly thanked the MUM organization, all the judges and everyone else who was associated with her during her journey. For her, it was a miracle and a dream come true to win the esteemed title of Miss Universe Myanmar 2018. She wrote in her Facebook post, “This is an unbelievable dream that came true. This is a miracle. Also to the critics, thank you for all your criticism. Your sayings and comments make me see my other side that I'm blind to. You guys are my necessity. I promise you my energies and efforts will turn my weaknesses into strength on forth.”

In the three rounds of the much-awaited competition, Hnin Thway Yu Aung performed exceedingly well and became the jury’s favourite right at the beginning. She looked dazzling in a swimsuit in the first round and made sure that everybody knew she is the perfect example of beauty with a brain in the Question and Answer round.
