15 Apr 2020 | Angelique Reyes

The outbreak of Covid19 across the globe has had a massive impact labour supply and earnings of workers in many countries. The pandemic is having a catastrophic effect on working hours and earnings, globally. Vulnerable groups including small-scale farmers, daily waged workers and domestic helpers have been facing tough times dealing with the coronavirus on one side and trying to meet their needs on the other. They are facing problems in purchasing their essentials because of the lack of money in their pockets.

In such tough times, our Miss Universe Philippines 2020 contestant Alaiza Flor Malinao posted about a campaign online that she is supporting and urged her fans and followers to support them too. #MoveFoodInitiative is an online initiative where the organization is trying to collect donations as well as food in order to support the local farmers, workers, and the needy people whose lives depends on the daily earnings.

Alaiza shared a message on her social media where she mentioned, “Through the Move Food Initiative, we are mobilizing food producers and ensure a sure market for their products amid the logistical challenges brought about by COVID-19.

You can help us by:

1. Tagging or referring a community kitchen in Metro Manila that supplies free food to our front liners.

2. Ordering through: bit.ly/movefoodinitiative

The diva also mentioned that while everyone is trying to be productive and taking good care of themselves by following the guidelines, it is very important for everyone to practice or carry out about 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity. This moderate intensity physical activity is not recommended to stay fit or get into shape but because physical activity tends to improve general well being of an individual. It uplifts the mood and boost immune system too. She has urged everyone to take some time off and dedicate it to their well-being by carrying out some physical form of activity which can include Zumba, yoga, stretching, virtual workouts etc.
