Filipinas anticipated to make a comeback for Miss Universe Philippines 2022

05 Jan 2022 | Angelique Reyes

After another successful top placement at Miss Universe 2021 as Philippines’ Beatrice Luigi Gomez finished among the Top 5, the country is all set to meet a new queen who will continue the legacy for the country as Miss Universe Philippines 2022. While many names have been surfacing as rumoured delegates and are being included in wishlists, some Filipinas are been anticipated to return for the national pageant after their previous appearances in national pageants.

So, without any further ado, here are some of the divas who are being expected to come back to pageantry and be a part of the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant after their impressive performance at previous national pageants.

Steffi Aberasturi

The diva who caught a lot of attention and appreciation in the last edition of the pageant and who secured the second runner-up position at Miss Universe Philippines 2021 is being speculated to return for the title this year as well.

After a stellar presentation last year, Steffi seems like an ideal contender to represent the country at the international platform. Steffi is 26-years-old and stands 170 cm tall and has graduated with a degree in Tourism Management from University of San Carlos. She works as an ESL teacher and a professional model as well. Grown up in Liloan, Cebu, Steffi is of Spanish, Australian and Filipino descent.

Apart from her last appearance, Steffi is not new to the world of pageantry as she has won various titles such as Sinulog Festival Queen 2011, Miss Campus Femme 2012, etc. She was also the winner of Binibining Cebu 2018-2019 and has shown immense dedication and determination to represent the country at international stage. The diva has always believed that everyone should keep following their aspirations until they have achieved it.

Emma Mary Tiglao

Emma Mary Tiaglo has been one of the most interested divas to join the national pageant for over two years now but while the question that whether she will enter the journey this year still remains unanswered, Emma can definitely prove to be a great fighter and stand out among all the queens from the world if she decided to participate.

26-year-old Emma is the Fierce Phoenix of Pampanga that represented the Philippines at the Miss Intercontinental 2019 and reached the Top 20. She is definitely not new to pageant industry as it all started when she was 14 years of age and had her first beauty pageant in her hometown Pampanga. She has earlier also been a semifinalist at Binibining Pilipinas 2014 and Miss World Philippines 2015 4th Princess.

Through her journey so far, she realized and believes that, it’s the purpose by which it is given that is far more important to find a calling in this world, and to act upon it. To make a difference in the lives of others, no matter how small. She also believes that in the end, the true measure of fulfillment is not always in winning, but in discovering the best in all of us.

Bea Patricia Magtanong

Bea Patricia de Guzman Magtanong is another diva who has been a part of the Miss Universe Philippines wishlist since the pilot edition of the pageant. She rose to fame as she was crowned Miss International Philippines 2019 and represented her country in Miss International 2019.

As this year will most probably be the last chance that the diva can enter the pageant due to the age restrictions. 28 years-old Patricia is a lawyer by profession and is also a fashion and commercial model and a member of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP).

Even though she denied the rumours of participation in Miss Universe Philippines 2020, if she decided to enter this year, one can surely hope that she gives it another try and bring home another Miss Universe crown after Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

Roberta Tamondong

Roberta is one of the divas who is at the top of all wishlists for both of the biggest national pageant of Philippines, i.e., Binibining Pilipinas 2022 and Miss Universe Philippines 2022. Whichever title she decides to enter, the diva will definitely raise the Filipino flag high at the international platform.

19 years-old Roberta, nicknamed Ro-an, became the first Filipina beauty to win Miss Eco Teen International 2020 crown in Egypt. Not new to the pageantry, Roberta adjudged first runner-up at Miss Bikini Philippines 2019. She also sat in the judging panel of Miss FIT Philippines 2021.

Maria Ahtisa Manalo

Another one of the most anticipated names this year is of the stunning beauty queen Maria Ahtisa Manalo, who was also a fan favourite for the last edition. Miss International 2018 first runner-up Ahtisa Manalo would have also been a part of the debut edition of Miss Universe Philippines 2020, but she withdrew to focus on her health first.

Ahtisa believes that winning isn’t about hard work and good looks alone, according to her every contestant has these qualities in some or the other ratio. However, she also believes it does come to destiny when the question of the big win comes.

While we await for this year’s batch of stunning delegates, one thing is for sure that Philippines’ will yet again produce a bunch of inspiring and strong beauty queens and carry forward the benchmark in the pageant world.
