Puerto Rico’s outstanding performance at Miss Universe in recent years

Puerto Rico holds five Miss Universe titles under its belt, making it third in the ranking holding five Miss Universe crowns. The country debuted its win at Miss Universe in 1970 when Marisol Malaret won. In 1985, Deborah Carthy-Deu from Puerto Rico was crowned Miss Universe. Dayanara Torres won the third crown for her country in 1993 while the fourth crown was won by Denise Quiñones in 2001. Zuleyka Rivera brought home the fifth crown in 2006. The country holds 7 runners-up positions at Miss Universe.

In the last four editions, Puerto Rico has won a strong placement in every edition. The stunning beauties have created a lasting impression and made their country proud. In 2019, Puerto Rico came strong with Madison Anderson’s participation. At Miss Universe 2019, Madison where she finished as 1st Runner-Up, becoming the country's highest non-winning placement since Cynthia Olavarría who also finished as 1st Runner-Up at Miss Universe 2005.

 

 

In 2020, Estefanía Natalia Soto Torres represented Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2020 where Latinas conquered the stage as Soto placed in the Top 10 while Andrea Meza of Mexico took home the crown. In 2021 as well, Michelle Marie Colón Ramírez represented Puerto Rico as the first Afro-Puerto Rican at Miss Universe 2021 and placed in the Top 10 as well.
