Miss Universe Singapore 2014 final is all set to be held on August 22' 2014 at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. The finals will be broadcast on cable channel, Fashion TV, the contest's media partner this year. Shi Lim, the Miss Universe Singapore 2013, will crown her successor on August 22' 2014, who will win attractive cash prizes, and a chance to represent Singapore at Miss Universe 2014.
Miss Universe Singapore has set out on a different direction this year and is now being branded as a fashion event instead of a beauty pageant. The emphasis of the contest has also changed to being the search for a spokesmodel, and not a beauty queen.
Even the number of finalists have been reduced to 12 instead of usual 20, stressing the need for quality and not the quantity. The 12 finalists were revealed to the public at a press-conference on Aug 2' 2014. This year's contestants promise to be a more exotic mix compared to last year’s list of finalists, which was dominantly Chinese.
Among the finalists unveiled are a Nigerian-Malay, an Arabian-English and a French-Indian-Chinese, a reflection of Singapore multi-racial culture.
