The finale of Miss Universe Slovakia 2018 was held on 17th November 2018. The conclusion of the event saw the crowning of Barbora Hanová who is now going to represent Slovakia in Miss Universe 2018 to be held on 17th December 2018. She was crowned by outgoing Miss Universe Slovakia 2017 Vanessa Bottánová.
The new Slovakian beauty is 24 years of age and a model by profession. She is also a graphic designer and has received her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Art Direction at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Italy, from where she graduated in the year 2015. She also has a Master’s degree in Visual Communication at Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW, Switzerland. Barbora is multilingual with the ability to speak fluently in five languages, namely English, Slovak, French, Dutch as well as Italian.
Upon winning, Barbora took to her social media to share the news of her win and wrote a heartfelt letter, “Dear friends and family, finally, after a few crazy days, I have gotten round to saying something very important to you. I want to thank you for all your support, with your shares, kind wishes and wonderful messages during my time in the Miss Universe Slovakia 2018 competition. Soon, I will be off to Thailand to represent my home country in the international Miss Universe 2018 competition. It is a great honour and I promise to give my best, for myself, for my country but also for all of you too, who are standing behind me.”

This year was special for the Miss Universe Slovak Republic Organization as they ventured into the world of social media and decided to include the fans of followers of the beauty pageant by live streaming the event on their official Facebook page. They got a very positive response with about 80 thousand viewers on Facebook and Youtube and an increasing number of views every day.
The finale of Miss Universe 2018 will see the outgoing Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa crown her successor. Demi has had a very successful reign. The finale will be held in Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret, Thailand. Barbora is a very strong contestant with knowledge about so many cultures, she will surely make her country proud in the finale.
