Shannah is of multiracial heritage (African American, Native American, and white) and becomes the 7th woman of known black ancestry to join the Miss USA 2020 class and the Miss USA 2020 batch of delegates isn't halfway done yet.

Shannah is the daughter of youth pastors who was born and raised in Vermont in a ministry and outreach environment. The 23-year-old queen works for Collins Aerospace, as an Import Specialist in their International Trade Compliance department. She helps to ensure that product travels in and out of USA in compliance with government regulations. In her spare time, Shannah enjoys science, reading, movies, volunteering, networking, beauty and fashion, and fitness. She has seen every Marvel movie ever made, and was a ballet and hip-hop dancer!

Also crowned at the finale was Miss Vermont Teen USA 2020 Kiera Pipeling who is also from a black ancestry. The newly-crowned Miss Vermont USA and Miss Vermont Teen USA are both of partial black ancestry, in what may be a first for the 93% white state.

Congratulations to the newly crowned queens.
