At the end of the coronation night of Miss Virginia USA 2018, Ashley Vollrath was declared the winner of the night and crowned Miss Virginia USA 2018. She succeeds and was crowned by Jacqueline Carroll, Miss Virginia USA 2017. She will now go on to represent her state, Virginia, in Miss USA 2018 pageant to be held next year.

Ashley is a senior, studying Multimedia Journalism, at Virginia Tech. She has held seven internship positions, in her three short years, while attending Virginia Tech, and after interviewing with Fox News, CNN, ESPN and several local media stations, Ashley decided to spend this past summer interning at CSN in Boston, MA, allowing her to report on her favourite baseball team, the Boston Redsox. Ashley is currently the Assistant Sports Director for Virginia Tech Television and recently started covering WNBA and Virginia Tech basketball for SB Nation’s Swish Appeal. She hopes to one day report from the sidelines of the Superbowl.

Ashley’s number one passion is sports; you will find Ashley cheering on the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field as a Washington Redskins Cheerleading Ambassador. When not at FedEx Field Ashley, she can be found giving back to her community. She is currently spearheading the “Hokie Hearts Lending Helping Hands,” event that will enable a number of at-risk children to pick out Christmas gifts, hand in hand, with Virginia Tech athletes. Ashley also enjoys modelling and recently checked walking in New York Fashion Week, for Mac Duggal, off of her bucket list.

She could not believe that she has actually won and shared her happiness with the world, “I still haven’t woken from this dream, and thankfully I am starting to realize I don’t have to. I haven’t completely come to terms with the idea that my life has changed forever and one of my biggest dreams has finally come true. This past weekend I made so many new friends, and last night I became part of a family I have been dreaming about joining for years. I felt so much love on the Miss Virginia, USA stage with over 50 of my closest friends and family cheering me on in the audience, and I thank each and every one of you. To my family, my deepest gratitude to you as you have truly helped prepare me mentally for this competition and made me feel extremely confident throughout the entire process. Thank you to every single person who sent a little love my way.  I hope to make Virginia proud and MISS USA, here I come!” the young queen said ecstatically.

At the same event, Himanvi Panidepu from Centreville was crowned Miss Virginia Teen USA 2018. She is a senior at Centreville High School where she loves competing on the Centreville Varsity Track and Field Team, learning and performing Indian singing and dancing, taking an active role in her school’s clubs such as DECA, FBLA team, UNICEF, etc., working out, and volunteering in her community. She will now go on to represent her state in Miss Teen USA 2018.
