Mylène Halemai crowned Miss Wallis and Futuna 2020 for Miss France 2021

Mylène Halemai was crowned Miss Wallis and Futuna 2020 on 26th September 2020 in Kafika and will be representing the province at Miss France 2021 competition. She succeeds Miss Wallis and Futuna 2019 Violène Blondel for the title.

Mylène is an Australian born French tennis player who is 19-years-old and stands 177 cm tall and is very excited to represent her province at the national pageant which is scheduled to be held on 12th December 2020. She becomes the first entrant from Wallis and Futuna since 2005, and only the fifth ever.

The diva is very excited to be a part of such prestigious stage and has assured that she will be able to perform her best at the competition. She chose to return to her island to reconnect with her father's Wallisian roots. Miss Wallis and Futuna 2020 Mylène Halemai’s court includes:

First runner-up: Constance Maugateau

Second runner-up: Sigalei Vegi

Mylène is a strong, confident, and focused towards winning the title and making the people of Wallis and Futuna proud. The diva mentioned, “I am very proud to represent my islands as cultural ambassador at this year’s MPIP because it has an opportunity for me to show and promote my culture and traditions and to share them with the rest of the Pacific.” Mylène added that the pageant is a platform to not only promote the role of young women as mothers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and leaders of tomorrow but it allows the divas to work together to agree on the expectations and their role in building the future of the region.

Mylène wishes to focus on the importance of preserving the traditions to ensure that young men continue to respect the traditional roles for their sisters, wives and mothers; even despite the ever changing progress of development and technology.
