21 year old Alex Carlson-Helo won the Miss Washington USA 2017 at an event hosted on 13th November 2016. She was absolutely elated when crowned. "I DID IT!!!! I broke the Washington curse and made history. Tonight I won Miss Washington USA and am the first girl to win both the teen and miss title", were her first words.

By her word we know now that she had also won the Miss Washington Teen USA in 2012 when she was just 18. Washington as a state has not had many winners in the Miss USA Title. The last Miss USA won by any participant from Washington was by Dorothy Anstett in 1968. Thus Alex winning both the crowns has given the Natives of the Washington a hope to see some tough competition in the Miss USA 2017.

Alex has already made history by winning both the Miss Washington and Miss Washington Teen titles, which she won in the year 2012. But this is just beginning of the long journey to Miss Universe. However, as we all know behind every smile there is some sorrow and that is apt for Alex. After winning the Miss Washington Teen 2012, while she was preparing for the Miss USA 2017, heaven fell apart for her. Alex was diagnosed with Rheumatiod Arthritis when she was 20.

But this did not stop her from dreaming big. She took the disease as a challenge and started fighting for it. Besides regular medication she took up extensive physical workouts to keep her going. She has also taken her disease as way of educating people about its seriousness. These days she is going about the state raising funds to participate in Miss USA 2017 and Miss Universe 2017. Born and raised in a mediocre family she struggled with medicinal expenses, and Miss USA 2017 is an added expenditure. We hope that she achieves what she is fighting for.

In the meanwhile do support her cause and let us know how fair are her chances to win Miss USA 2017.
