The couple who loves to goof around and are loved by their fans for their goofiness did not manage to impress an Australian journalist Peter Ford as he took to her Twitter account to question the qualification of the couple to be announcing the nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards. He wrote, “No disrespect to these two but I’m not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees”.
Priyanka Chopra who is known for her witty comebacks replied to the journalist in the way best suited for him; she stated, “Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration” and scrolled the list of her 60+ films on her phone. The former beauty queen’s fans have applauded her for replying to the journalist in the way he should have been and have encouraged her to keep facing the trolls with such strong, confident, and witty comebacks and do not pay attention to the negativity that spreads online. In one of her recent interviews, Priyanka was asked about how does she reacts or handles the troll and the scrutiny online to which she replied, “I am just like everyone else. In the morning when I’m driving to work or I’m having my coffee, I’m flipping through Twitter, Instagram, the news, and when my name pops up, I’m like, ‘Alright, what are people saying? How are we feeling?’ I just don’t react to it or let it affect my mental well-being.”
One of the social media users stated, "Not only does this diminish a woman’s career but also disregards the importance of World Cinema and its presence at the Oscars Upside-down face. Like film doesn’t just revolve around American movies." Peter Ford was quick to reply to her and responded, “I agree her credits are very extensive and I was not fully aware of that. The contribution to Hollywood is minimal. Still no clarification on what her husband’s contribution is. These are the Oscars. This isn’t personal, she’s a very successful and astute woman.”
A user online also mentioned that she loved the way Priyanka responded but condemns the behaviour of other fans who are continuously bashing Ford for disagreement of opinions, which is quite agreeable, given the power to Agree to Disagree. On the other hand, her husband hasn’t weighed in on the debate on social media.
