The 50th edition of Miss World i.e., Miss World 2000 was hosted on 30th November 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom. Priyanka Chopra who represented India was crowned the new queen by Miss World 1999 Yukta Mookhey at the end of the event finale as she became the fifth Miss World and the second consecutive winner from her country.
Ever since her victory at the stage of Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra has been moving forward making a remarkable name worldwide. Born on 18th July 1992, Priyanka, nicknamed PeeCee, hails from a small town of Jharkhand, Jamshedpur. Her journey to become a social worker, Miss World 2000 winner, Bollywood queen and eventually an international star started with her brother sending away her pictures to Miss India Organization.
An aspirant of Aeronautics at the time, Priyanka got a call from the organization and it changed the direction of her career. She then worked hard and vied for the crown. She has now expanded her feet in Hollywood and is one of the most famous Indian celebrities at the global platform.
Before 'Baywatch' 2017, her first Hollywood debut movie, PC was seen in a 2015-released TV series Quantico. she has received numerous awards and nominations for all her achievements. In the year 2016, she was honored by India's fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shree for taking Indian cinema and talent to another level. She was also named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time in 2017. In 2018, Forbes listed her among World's 100 most powerful women. Priyanka Chopra has been working with UNICEF since 2006 and was appointed as the national and global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for child rights in 2010 and 2016. Her namesake foundation works for the welfare of underprivileged children in India. Chopra is dauntless and has never been intimidated by people's views about her.
