Soon, on the coronation night of Miss Wales 2018, 23-year-old Miss Wales 2017 Hannah Williams from Pencoed in Bridgend will pass on her crown to one worthy finalist, who will then get to represent Wales at the Miss World 2018 competition where Miss World 2017 Maushi Chhillar will crown her successor.
The Miss Wales final will take place on Saturday 28 April at The Riverfront in Newport. (Tickets are available directly from their website www.tickets.newportlive.co.uk). According to the Miss Wales website, ‘It's a celebration of months of challenges and activities undertaken by the finalists in a bid to become Miss Wales.’

When the finalists get on the grand finale stage that evening, they will be on day three of the grand final events, having already hosted the Miss Wales charity ball to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Wales and undertaken an empowerment day designed to help them grow in confidence and take their personal ambitions to another level. Every year, the Miss Wales contestants raise thousands of pounds for the Miss World Charity Beauty With A Purpose.

The Miss Wales competition has been going since the 1950’s and in recent years has grown to become more popular than ever with around 1,000 women registering an interest in the competition each year.
The winner is automatically guaranteed a place at the most respected and established beauty contest in the world - Miss World. She also wins an exciting package of prizes. In recent years, the competition has also raised more than £600,000 for children’s charities in Wales.
It has been more than 40 years since Miss Wales won the Miss World title but in 2012, Sophie Moulds from Ferndale did come second so we are sure we can win it again!
The media interest in the competition is phenomenal. Each year, it features in the local, regional, national and specialist press and media.
It’s a great opportunity to glam up, have fun and make a difference. And for one lucky lady, there’s the trip in a lifetime to Miss World.
