Miss World 2019 BWAP inauguration of the first compostable sanitary pad machine in Tanzania

The Miss World Organisation and reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León had their first-ever visit to Tanzania on 27th of October 2019. In the next few days they saw several 'Beauty With A Purpose' activities including the installation of a machine that will produce compostable Sanitary Pads for the local community as part of the continued support Miss World is giving to a feminine hygiene campaign.

The inauguration of the first compostable sanitary pad machine in Tanzania held on 31st of October 2019 with a hope of providing every school child with an access to free sanitary pads across the country. Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce de León and Miss World Tanzania 2019 Sylvia Sebastian, officially launched the facility of Tanzanian unit by cutting the ribbon together and congratulating the unit afterwards for their beautiful purpose.

Julia Morley Chairman and CEO had a surprise for Dr Harrison Mwkyembe, Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Arts, Culture and Sports as they exchanged ideas on how to supply all Tanzanian schoolchildren with compostable sanitary pads. She said that the money can be raised for more machines to be set up in the whole country so that it can be used purposefully. She also said that Tanzania is the first country to ever do that and its such an amazing thing to see Dr Harrison Mwkyembe to support it in a very good way.

Miss World, on their official facebook page, posted the pictures from Tanzania and they captioned it with “Here are some pictures from our first ever visit to Tanzania. We were for the installation of the country's first compostable sanitary pad machine. Our hope is to bring more of these machines and give every girl child access to free sanitary pads in Tanzania. We met some amazing people and we were lucky enough to explore this beautiful country and the Arusha National Park.Thankyou Tanzania for such a warm welcome.”

Miss World 2019 will take place on 14th December 2019 at Excel London, United Kingdom, where more than 100 contestants will be competing and will showcase their best ever beauty and talents.
