The 70th edition of the Miss World pageant is all set to be hosted on 16th December 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico where delegates from all over the world will compete for the coveted crown. The reigning Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the end of the event.

The delegates of this year’s pageant have been going through the fast track competitions in Puerto Rico. The winner of these events automatically make it into the quarter or semifinals of Miss World. Miss World Sports or Sportswoman is a title and award given to the winner of a sports event at Miss World. It is a fast track or preliminary event, giving the winner automatic entry into the semifinals.

For 2021, the sports event was initially held on 1st December 2021 when Miss Norway, Amine Storrød, had an asthma attack during the event which had to delay the rest of the competition. The sports event then resumed on 10th December 2021 and the winners were officially announced via Miss World Facebook page on 13th December 2021.

As she won the first place in the Sport Fast track challenge, Karolina took to her social media to express her emotions as she wrote, “Hard work pays off! I’m beyond proud of myself for obtaining first place in the Sport Fast track challenge of Miss World!! It has not been an easy journey but with perseverance and effort, anything is possible!”

“I want to share a personal story with all of you…when I was in elementary school I joined the track team. I will never forget my very first race, when I ended up vomiting halfway through the race and struggling to even finish. However, I managed to complete the race even after coming in much later than everyone else. The truth is not all of us are born with extraordinary abilities or outstanding talent, but it is in us to WORK on ourselves every day and for the realization of our dreams. This is the greatest satisfaction and I dedicate this to my younger self for not giving up after that first race,” she added.

The Miss World 2021 Sports challenge was won by Karolina Vidales of Mexico. Hugrún Birta Egilsdóttir of Iceland secured the first runner-up position and Guinea Bissau’s Itchacénia Da Costa and Ireland’s Pamela Uba tied as the second runner-ups.

Congratulations ladies!
