Catia Pedrosa was an actress and model, the first representative of the Rio de Janeiro to be elected Miss World Brazil in the year 1983. She even became the second runner-up at the Miss World 1983 pageant later that year.

In June of 1988, it was cover of the magazine Playboy and became the first ex-miss to pose naked for a masculine publication after Vera Fischer.

Sadly for this beauty queen, her demise was a painful one. Catia had previously suffered from Panic disorder, due to which she had attempted suicide nine times. However, she dies of abdominal cancer, which the former beauty queen had been diagnosed with just a few years back.

Sonia Lima, the wife of Wagner Montes, president of Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, was close to the beauty queen and broke the news of her demise to the world. Catia was previously married to Wagner Montes and they were also parents to a son.

She wrote on her Instagram,

Fans have poured in condolences and expressed grief at the ex-Miss World Brazil’s demise. She was only 55 years old and is survived by a son.
