Nurianne Arias Helder was crowned Miss World Aruba 2018 on 7th June 2018 as she became the official representative of Aruba in Miss World 2018. Nurianne, who is 23 years of age, graduated from the University of Aruba’s Faculty of Arts and Science’s Organization, Governance and Management Bachelor program.

Nurianne is passionate about social work, being a social citizen, and can be seen doing charity work in many social projects with various foundations. Her passion began when she was 12 years of age. As she prepares for her international competition, Nurianne finds time to talk about her dreams, passion and guilty pleasures in an exclusive interview with Angelopedia.

INTERVIEW

Q. How does it feel to be Miss World Aruba 2018 and now a delegate of Miss World 2018?

The feeling is amazing and at the same time I have an incredible feeling of responsibility. As Miss World Aruba 2018 I am honored to have the opportunity to represent my island and to show the world how we offer love and compassion.

Q. What inspired you to the world of pageantry?

Before my teenage years I participated in several pageants in Aruba and I have always enjoyed being involved as a participant or helping national queens and participants of different pageants. However, ins my 12 years of age I dedicated most of my free time to organizing social projects and volunteering as a member of service clubs Key Club and Circle K Club in Aruba as well as in many other projects for example helping local foundations with their projects directly.

3. How would you like to represent yourself at the international stage of Miss World 2018?

I would like to present myself with a lot of joy and light from within. To me it is highly important to show the feelings that we carry in our hearts. Miss World is the ideal platform to share with others, our knowledge, skills and passion.

4. Would you like to tell us about your advocacy as a Beauty with a Purpose delegate?

My Beauty with a Purpose project aimed at educating, motivating and inspiring the Aruban community to take good care of their health. My project also aimed at educating and equipping especially children with knowledge and tools on how they can take control of their own health. I also raised awareness through a campaign in the media on health conditions and their implications of people’s lives, focusing on the importance of emotional and psychological balance.

5. Who is your role model, if any, and what values of his or her do you wish you could inculcate in your own life, and teach the next generation?

There are many individuals that I consider as role models, however, globally I have always admired Nelson Mandela (RIP), Mother Theresa (RIP), and Michelle Obama and Malala Youzafzai. Nelson Mandela thought numerous individuals around the world of the importance of being strong to stand for what we believe in with consciousness and of the value of altruism. Mother Theresa, showed with her love and compassion that it does not matter who we help or how but what matters is the effort that we put in everything that we do. Michelle Obama is a modern lady with genuine interest in advocating for education and self-empowerment. Lastly, Malala Yousafzai, a brave young lady with courage and passion to advocate for the right of education.

6. What is the one thing that keeps you going and inspires you to be the best version of yourself?

I jump out of bed everyday motivated by the goal and desire of wanting to make a difference and positive impact in others’ lives. Being able to welcome another day is a blessing for me. I appreciate every day to grow and learn and to share what my own knowledge and experience with others.

7. Would you like to share your most special childhood memory with us?

I remember that spending every afternoon with my grandmother after school. I used to watch her cook several meals and she thought me how to cook by letting me watch all the steps she took. Since then I learned from her in the kitchen, to always remember to cook extra portions of meals. She always said “You never know who may arrive home and may be hungry, so always be prepared to offer a meal”.

8. If you could be invisible for a day, how would you like to spend it?

If I was invisible for a day I would spend a whole day of relaxation. I would take advantage of this day to reenforce my spiritual connection with myself by meditating, reading quietly, and enjoying the beach.

9. What or who empowers you to be yourself and work hard every day?

I am inspired every day by those global role models that have thought me valuable life lessons through their actions and global impact. However, what empowers me to work harder is seeing positive results out of actions that I take. Especially during the Miss World Beauty with a Purpose journey I have felt empowered and in responsibility to contribute to a healthier community. Through this journey my desire to work globally as a philanthropist has grown immensely. I am strongly driven by charitable work.

10. What is the one thing you can label as your guilty pleasure?

I love to put on music and sing wholeheartedly while I drive to an event when I am alone in the car.

11. We’re sure that this competition is another milestone in your life. What is that one thing that you ultimately want to achieve?

One of my ultimate goals is to achieve an international career in philanthropy. I strongly feel that I wish to build a professional live to create innovative projects in benefit of individuals around the world that need appropriate access to medical support. Through this career I would be able to apply all knowledge and skills obtained through my education and journey as a passionate volunteer to achieve global philanthropic goals.

12. If you are granted three wishes right now, what would you ask for?

I would wish that all diseases would be abolished from earth. Secondly, I would wish that no child goas through any kinds of pain or hunger. Thirdly, I would wish that war could end.

13. Lastly, is there any message that you would like to give to your fans of Angelopedia?

Every new day is a blessing and, an opportunity. Take advantage of every day to bless your day and others day with positive energy. Persevere to achieve your goals, be compassionate of others and speak your heart, because every achievement was once a desire from the heart
