15 Jan 2018 | Kanupriya Bhardwaj

Esma Voloder placed in the Top 20 in the last year’s Miss World 2017, failing to win herself a place in the semi-finals. Nevertheless, she won the award of ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ and since then, she has been living up to her title by doing her best to work for the underprivileged all over the world.

On 21st December 2017, she started her journey to India on a very special mission – to help raise donations, distribute necessities and spend time with the underprivileged children with the Healthy Kids Happy Kids Foundation.

Esma started her journey in Hyderabad where she attended a Sri Swaralaya Music and Dance Academy event. She posted a series of pictures and videos on her arrival and even brought notice to a young girl from India who did not have resources to exploit her talent before the esteemed foundation took over.

Satish, the foundation of the Healthy Kids Happy Kids, was also appreciated by our beauty queen. She made sure that the noble cause got as much attention as possible so that the people in need get the help they require from all over the world. Esma also met Kusuma Rajaiah, the inventor and Patent Holder of Ahimsa Silk (Peace Silk) which is created in a more humane way without any harm, unlike other silk fabrics.

Esma, then, went on to visit Narayana IIT Academy College for girls to spread the light of education and inspiration to the girls alongside Satish Sikha, the founder of Healthy Kids Happy Kids. On her visit, Esma visited various government schools which provides education and shelters to the poorest children in Hyderabad. Our beauty queen got very emotional during her trip; she thanked all the children and the foundation for the infinite love and respect she was accorded with.

After her emotional journey to Hyderabad, Esma visited Kakinada, a city in Andhra Pradesh in India. The foundation works for orphans who were abandoned at birth and provide them with a chance to grow in a happy and healthy environment.

The foundation also works for the differently abled children whom Esma met on her visit. A week ago, she shared an emotional post showing how grateful she was for having what she had in life. She shared how she made memories for the lifetime with her devoted followers on her visit to India.

One of the most rarest and special moments I’ve ever had. I had to stop myself from hugging them. And from crying . The boy on the left next to me ; can’t see and can’t hear . When I was told after I said hello to him - my heart shattered in that moment. The boy on the right - can’t hear but had vision. Both are intellectually - differently abled. Although one couldn’t see me and both couldn’t hear me ... I still felt seen and heard by them. My heart was feeling so full ... being there with them. I walked on stage holding there hands ... and had to keep it together . That time I asked myself- why? And why not me . I don’t know why them- but for me , I never experienced such a strong instance of gratefulness. Satish asked me when I came back down - “How lucky are we to just be able to hear and see...?” and I said “Yes. How fortunate” - and the world of everything else I had to be appreciative and grateful for opened up in that moment and I thought- what if...? That scary and confronting feeling where you face yourself and realise how many times we forget how fortunate we really are . At least I thought- they do not know about what they do not have , so they don’t see themselves through my eyes or hear the same thoughts I hold. But I hope they too experience the joy and love of any blessings that they may have , as less as that may be (and yes that is hard to write without feeling hurt for them ...) . My heart finds a little comfort in that. And I will not inquire too deeply about their inner states - but know that mine crumbled in light of the many blessings I have. ?? @u_e_t_s thank you for all the work you are doing ... it was a memory to treasure for life . ???? #blessings #india #vision #hearing #gratefull #profoundmoments
