Australian beauty queen Kristen Wright, through her official social media, revealed the national costume that she will be unveiling at Miss World 2023. Designed in collaboration with James Remi, the costume embodies the principles of sustainability, community and purpose.

The national costume is inspired by the ocean and her BWAP project - #EducateResuscitate and has been designed keeping sustainability as the core. The gown features a hand-embellished coral reef at the bottom which shows the dedication to marine conservation. The bust line has recycled and repurposed plastic bottles demonstrating the commitment to eco-friendly fashion.

The Beauty with a Purpose Project, Educate Resuscitate, involves travelling to indigenous communities, youth centers and schools to teach basic first aid, water safety and marine ecology. Kristen is deeply committed to working with local businesses and organizations that are the backbone of the communities.

“The design not only captures the spirit of Australia, a place that holds a special place in my heart, but also serves as a representation of the unwavering support I have received from those who have been with me on this once in a lifetime opportunity. As I prepare to step onto the global stage at Miss World, I am honoured to carry this piece with me, symbolising collaboration for positive change and leaving a lasting impact that goes beyond our individual achievements”, she wrote as she unveiled her costume.

The 71st edition of Miss World will be held on 9th March 2024 in Mumbai, India where Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
