Miss World British Virgin Islands 2013 Kassandra Malone was honoured with exemplary teacher of the year award at a gala dinner held under the theme “VI Stars in Education”, at Marias By The Sea in British Virgin Islands.

She was honoured for her great start to a teaching career last week when she picked up the New Teacher of the Year award at the annual BVI teacher awards!

Kassandra, who was a student during Miss World 2013, recently graduated and is enjoying her new career in education as a teacher at the Althea Scatliffe Primary. Receiving the New Teacher of the Year award in the primary education category is the icing on the cake for a superb start to educating the future of BVI.

Kassandra represented BVI at Miss World 2013 in Bali, Indonesia.

Speaking at the awards, Minister of Education Myron Walwyn said the gala was aimed at celebrating educators in order to ‘raise the profile of the profession’.

Educators, we will continue to find opportunities where we can celebrate you and the work that you put into your profession. With events such as this gala – as a community, we endeavour to show our gratitude to raise the profile of the profession and of educators across the territory.
