France wins the 1st spot in Miss World 2018 Top 30 with Maëva Coucke’s win

Miss World 2018 hosted their Top Model and Designer Award of Miss World 2018 on 20th November 2018 in Sanya, China. The event saw Miss World South Africa 2018 Thulisa Keyi and Miss World China 2018 Mao Peirui emerge as the joint winners of Miss World 2018 Designer Award.

The event everyone was excited about was the Top Model Award which would decide the first finalist to get a spot in the Miss World 2018 Top 30 in the finale. Finally, when the Top 5 were announced, namely, Mao Peiru from China, Aïsattou Filly from Senegal, Maëva Coucke from France, Bo Ah Cho from Korea and Thulisa Keyi from South Africa, it was no surprise as they gave their best during the catwalk and stood out from the rest.

It was then time to announce the winner of the Top Model Award and everyone applauded as the name that was announced was that of Miss World France 2018 Maëva Coucke! She was wearing a red strapless dress, with a structured bodice which was elegant and sophisticated. The Miss World Organization described the colour of the dress as a symbol of China’s hospitality.

Maëva Coucke took to her official social media to express her happiness in a post, “Last night, the top model challenge took place and I had the chance to win! I'm so happy! By becoming miss world top model 2018 I qualify directly in the top 30 of Miss World! France is therefore the first country selected for the grand finale that will take place on December 8th. I am proud to bring this victory to my country. Thank you for your support, you are my strength and congrats to the other candidates who all shone on stage last night.”

Maëva Coucke has been in the pageant world since 2013, competing. In many local pageants like Miss Boulogne 2013, Miss Foire Expo 2014, Miss Pévèle 2016 and finally Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2017 which earned her the right to compete in Miss France 2018. She is 23 years of age and a law student who aspires to become a corporate lawyer in the future. The 176 cm tall beauty is also very passionate about the world of fashion.

All the prior experience in the pageant world certainly helped Maëva win the Top Model Award. The award was presented to her by none other than our reigning Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, accompanied by the current Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador and Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle.
