Miss Guyana Organization is all set to host the 2022 edition as the official search for the delegates is on. Here is the official press release from the organization:

After two (2) years of detailed preparation during the Covid-19 pandemic, Miss World Guyana is back and this time, much is to be expected. One of the world’s greatest women empowerment events continues its local journey to find that one well rounded young woman of Guyanese descent between the ages of 17 to 26 looking to fulfill her dreams to represent Guyana at Miss World 2022 and expand her reach while at the same time fulfilling her social responsibilities under Miss World’s ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ project.

Those hoping to vie for the coveted title of Miss World Guyana 2022 can expect, at least for this year’s competition, free participation as finalists, one more reason to take advantage of this unique opportunity. In addition to this, the prize package boasts a lofty value of five million, five hundred thousand Guyana dollars (GYD$5,500,000), including a car, cash, designer wardrobe, scholarship opportunities and best of all, the chance to showcase Guyana to the world.

Applications have been open and were scheduled to close with an April 26 deadline which is now being extended until May 26, 2022. The extension will facilitate some changes being implemented by Mr Davindra Dave Lalltoo who recently accepted the role as Chairman and is excited to be a part of the Miss World family. Dave has been a stalwart in the pageant industry in Guyana; beginning in 2016 when he served as an esteemed judge in the 2016 Miss World Guyana national competition. He co-founded Guyana Premier and was later appointed the National Director of Miss Earth Guyana which ended in 2020. Dave is currently the holder of two Masters’ Degrees from the University of Hertfordshire, one in Business Management and the other in International Relations. He is also known for being the recipient of two National Youth Awards in Youth Entrepreneurship and Environmental Conservation and Protection, both won in 2018 through the Government of Guyana. Currently, Dave is tied to the Texila American University as a Lecturer, the Chief Operations Officer of Ultra Care Medical Centre Inc., provides Management Consultation for several large organisations and is on his way to acquiring his Doctorate in Business Administration. Dave is also the founder and current serving president of Recover Guyana, an environmental NGO, and a senior member of the Giving Hope Foundation.

To implement changes to this year’s recruitment campaign, Lalltoo will help drive a series of Nationwide Screenings and anticipates that Miss World Guyana will be the largest of its kind with a significant pool of applicants which could amount to as much as 100 or more. Additionally, competition fees are waived for all 2022 finalists.

Miss World Guyana participants are expected to participate in planning and implementing a project through the Beauty with a Purpose platform, the same which will be translated to the international stage to compete against participants from across the world. This year, each local participant will focus their project on literacy.

Miss World Guyana, over the years has seen many successes, with Guyana placing among the top ten on several occasions, including 2014 where Rafieya Hussein copped the title of Miss World Caribbean and being chosen among five other countries for her outstanding Beauty with a Purpose Project. Another shining light was in 2015 with Lisa Punch who also secured a spot in the top 10 and won the talent segment of the international leg of the competition. She was also a multimedia and Beauty with a Purpose finalist. In 2019, Joylyn Conway secured the winning spot for the Head to Head challenge. These are but a few of the achievements of Miss World Guyana, and the hunt is on for that young woman who will “bring the crown home.”
