Miss World Nepal 2022 Priyanka Rani Joshi has just returned after representing Nepal at 71st Miss World held over the weekend in Mumbai, India. Although, she could not win the crown, Priyanka placed in the Top 40 at the finals and also won the 'Beauty with a Purpose' award for Asia and Oceania region. The Beauty with a Purpose award is the most coveted award of the pageant and Joshi won it for Nepal, proving her mettle in the competition.

Her project was ‘Lighting Up Lives’ through which Priyanka brought her vision and dream into reality. With electricity shortage throughout Nepal, Priyanka decided to help Uppardang Gadi located in the foothills of Chitwan. The rural areas in Nepal have the indigenous groups—the Chepangs and Gurungs living in darkness facing power cuts for almost all day every day.

To make electricity more affordable for people in Uppardang Gadi, Priyanka worked on its regulation and sustainability and worked on establishing ‘Home-Stay’ hospitality businesses along with Honey-Bee Farming. She worked on getting eleven homestays established with proper hospitality training from the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management for the staff.

Priyanka also provided with induction cookers, quilts, bedsheets, and cleanliness tools along with getting the homestays freshly painted in collaboration with Berger Paints Nepal. For the bee farming, Priyanka worked on getting the locals with home-bee training and also provided grids for quick practice.

On her successful stint at 71st Miss World, Priyanka took to her official social media as she expressed her emotions in a post captioned, "My reign has been one of the most groundbreaking year for me on a personal level for the experiences and support I have gathered along the way. I now feel a greater sense of purpose and am pervaded with gratitude and hope. Gratitude for the opportunity to be a vessel for change and hope that this recognition encourages others to embrace their own unique abilities to contribute positively to our World."

Priyanka’s dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact truly shone through as her triumph not only signifies her personal achievement but also serves as a guiding light of inspiration for others to follow. She demonstrated the transformative power of compassion and drive as her win is a testament to the boundless potential that brings meaningful change in the world.
