Deborah Lambie who represented New Zealand at the Miss World 2015, held on 19 December 2015 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China PR, has officially started her career as a doctor. At the sixty-fifth (65) edition of the Miss World pageant, the beauty queen was placed among the Top 20 finalists.
The beauty queen shared her experiences on how she juggled up with the roles of being a beauty queen and a doctor, she also opens up about her fledgling career in medicine, as well as ‘Learncoach’, an NGO founded by Miss Lambie, offering online tutorials to NCEA students for free.
The 25-years-old beauty queen is now a registered doctor at the Wellington Hospital, New Zealand. Deborah expressed her feelings saying - "It's pretty challenging, but it's also very rewarding,".

The beauty is in her second month as a registered doctor in the general surgery ward. Deborah is dedicated and determined towards her career while putting 7 years of her life to practicing medicine. She says the team at the general surgery ward is very cooperative and encouraging.
The NZ beauty is more than happy to add a “new-chapter” in her life. Deborah plans to continue her work as a model, and as a public speaker, but at the same time, she wants to focus on her career as a surgeon. Clad in a blue doctor scrub, hanging stethoscopes around her neck, and donning a neat-ponytail, Deborah is all set for her first three-month-long stint in the general surgery ward.
"It's definitely a change in lifestyle," she says. "I've been doing completely different things and haven't been thinking about much medicine. So it's taking me a while to get my head back into it."

Despite participating at the pageants and witnessing the world of glamour and glitz, the beauty queen always lived in the midst of a whirlwind of being a doctor.
"It's been really important for me personally to make sure that I've kept a focus on medicine and my studies. I knew that I'd always come back to that."
The love for medical began way back for Deborah. "I remember seeing him being really kind to this distressed elderly lady. And it was kind of at that point, when i thought 'this is what I want to do'. "
Like the other new doctors, or "first year health officers", she will go through two years of this rotation before deciding what she wants to specialise in.
"Getting to know people with different cultures and backgrounds, different world-views and all sorts of religions is really helpful in medicine, where you're working with people from all different backgrounds."
"I guess it means you always have something to talk about, or ask about."
She further added – "Honestly, it was one of my favourite things learning before I went over there - because it was so far out of my comfort zone. I worked with a lecturer at Whitireia who was a lecturer in Maori performing arts for four months before. And I definitely went about it in the most genuine way that I could - I went to an expert, and i feel like I did the best that I could."
Let’s wish Good Luck to Miss World New Zealand 2015 Deborah Lambie, who has started a new phase of her life as a doctor.
