The beauty queen developed an online tutorial to help young people of New Zealand coming from different backgrounds. The tutorial has now reached 80,000 students. ‘Learncoach’ offers 4 million free tutorials over a vast range of subjects and 122, 000 free downloads. According to Deborah, “the online tutorials have helped a new generation of New Zealanders reach their full potential. They’ve gone from failure to gaining achievement, confidence and success.” Her intention is for the young people to “not just survive but thrive!

Before the establishment of this project, 1 in 10 New Zealand students left school with no qualifications. The beauty queen was awarded a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow last week for her services to New Zealand Education. She has even earned an AMP Scholarship, which will enable her to pursue her “dream to reduce educational inequalities in NZ”, as Deborah states.

Deborah expresses her gratitude, in correspondence with Miss World Chairman Julia Morley: “While I was unwell and unable to walk, it was great to have a project to work on that I am so passionate about. It really kept me going in what was a difficult time and I want to thank you and your organization for being the inspiration behind that… I would love to be able to give back to your organization that has given me so much.
