The reigning Miss World Mireia Lalaguna along with Miss World Chairman Julia Morley is travelling to National Harbor. The Miss World Organisation will officially release the details and announce the location for the 66th edition of Miss World pageant. The details will be revealed during a press conference to be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, just minutes downriver from Washington, DC, along the shores of the Potomac River.

Both Julia Morley and Meria Lalaguna will come together to make the much anticipated announcement. The Press Conference is due to take place tomorrow at 11am EDT and details like the Host Resorts and the location, date, time of the grand finale will be unveiled.

The Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants. The Miss World beauty pageant started in the year 1951, the idea of Miss World beauty pageant was conceptualized by late Eric Morley, the first edition of the Miss World beauty pageant was held in United Kingdom. Miss World is one of the most publicized beauty pageants alongside Miss Universe and Miss Earth pageants.

The Miss World originally started as the Festival Bikini Contest, but the British media decided to call it with a more modest name, ‘Miss World’. The pageant was met with a lot of criticism in the beginning, so much so that the swim suit was replaced with more modest swim suits after the first contest. The first Miss World (originally Festival Bikini Contest) was Kerstin "Kiki" Håkansson from Stockholm, Sweden. She was the first and last winner to be crowned while wearing a bikini.

The tradition of Beauty with a Purpose was introduced in 1972 and has since been responsible for countless hours of impactful humanitarian efforts, raising over a billion dollars for charities worldwide.
