The final screening of Miss World Philippines 2015 is slated to take place in the first week of September as stated by Cory Quirino, the Philippine franchise holder for Miss World. “We are looking for 25 official candidates, between 17 to 23 years old but not older than 24. They will then compete for the Miss World Philippines pageant that will be held this October at a venue that we will announce later,” said Quirino during the media launch of Organique Acai Premium Blend health drink.
Corry also made it clear that they are looking for someone who has the potential to take ahead the legacy of Miss World 2013, Megan Young. She considers Megan as the benchmark for excellence and that is exactly the kind of talent they are looking for this year as well. Quirino recalled the words of Julia Morey, Miss World organisation head, from the coronation night of Miss World 2014 when she said, “Don’t just send me a beautiful candidate or even a smart one. Send me someone who has the complete attributes of Megan Young. You will see tonight what exactly I mean”. Corry made it clear that Megan Young is the kind of beauty that the Miss World Philippines 2015 pageant is looking for.
“After Megan won, I asked myself, what have I done? We have raised the bar very high. Megan is what they call the complete package. She’s beautiful, smart, statuesque, charming and with her exposure on television, she can even write her own scripts. Miss World was totally happy with her,” Quirino added.
Valerie Weigmann, Miss World Philippines 2014 who is also a fellow actress like Megan, made it as far as the Top 25 of Miss World. Corry considers Megan as a blessing that came to Philippines. Corry also recalled that it was Megan’s dream to adorn the Miss World crown someday and that she was positive about chasing her dream to success. In addition to the obvious combination of beauty with brains, the aspirants of Miss World Philippines must also be prepared for the physical challenges that await them at the internationals.
