Tracy Maureen Perez to win the second crown for Philippines at Miss World 2021?

Tracy Maureen Perez was crowned Miss World Philippines 2021 on 3rd October 2021 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, Hall A as she became the official representative of Philippines at Miss World 2021. She set off to Puerto Rico for the international competition on 20th November, 2021 before an emotional send-off press conference was held on the afternoon of 18th November 2021.

Philippines is the land of beauty queens and Tracy Maureen Perez has been an absolute delight at the competition so far, living up to her country’s reputation. Tracy who has already secured a spot in the Top 30 via judges' choice won the head-to-head round along with Alejandra Conde representing Venezuela, Bethania Borba representing Paraguay, Sheymmis Palacios representing Nicaragua, Audrey Monkam representing Cameroon, Namrata Shrestha representing Nepal, Olivia Yacé representing Côte d’Ivoire, Palesa Molefe representing Botswana.

 

 

Emerging as one of the top contenders for the competition ever since her arrival, she has been consistent and strong in her endeavours. The Cebu City resident also stood out at the Beauty with a Purpose round and went on to win the title along with Shudufhadzo Musida of South Africa, Rehema Muthamia of England, Sharon Obara of Kenya, Shree Saini of United States and Manasa Varanasi of India.

Her advocacy is about parenthood inspired by her mother Chona Perez, who raised Tracy as a single mother, was a Binibining Cebu finalist and was once named among Cebu’s Five Prettiest. Tracy's ‘Para Kay Nanay’ (For My Mother) is an initiative for single mothers in her community in Cebu, Philippines. "A Single Mother's Journey to Love - that is my Beauty with a Purpose project and is dedicated to my late mother and to all single mothers in my community. Being a mother is the most important job. It's the most important role; yet oftentimes, they are neglected. We fight so much - we talk so much of women empowerment - so why don't we start by empowering our mothers, most especially those who go through so much difficulties having to raise their families all on their own," she shared.

 

 

She is one of the best dressed contestants on the competition so far. Starting off with her sleek airport look and then donning a hot pink bodysuit with scarf draped at the neckline by We Are Biro and Jeremia Horibe on her day one at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve. The diva wore a green crop blazer and pants by Kannah Design on her second day and an orange silky top and indigenous skirt by Neil Patrick Jimlani on the third day of her advent. Next, she wore a royal blue silk top and indigenous skirt by Jheboi Ramos Pascual in the head-to-head challenge. The inspiration behind this outfit was to showcase the elegance and to resurge the filipino textiles in the international arena.

Her national costume, ‘Mayari’ has been designed by the ace designer Axel Que. The intricate and bright floral costume is inspired by Moon Goddess and daughter of Bathala. Hailed as the most beautiful deity, she has complete dominion of the world at night.

Born in 1993, Tracy hails originally from Baguyan, Agusan del and holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of San Carlos – Cebu from, 2014 being her graduation year. Currently, she works as an associate software engineer at Accenture and also as a model on the side.

 

 

Clearing the rumours, Miss World Philippines organization recently assured pageant fanatics that Tracy tested negative for the COVID-19 virus and has been cleared to participate in the Coronation night. The coronation ceremony of the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant that was scheduled to be held on 16th December 2021 got temporarily postponed due to the Covid-19 cases amongst the contestants and other staff. The organization had to postpone the global broadcast finale due to the safety interests of its staff and contestants. The event is now set to held next year on 16th March 2022.
