Dewmini Thathsarani to represent Sri Lanka in Miss World 2019

The 21-year-old stunning beauty Dewmini Thathsarani from Kandy is all set to represent Sri Lanka in Miss World 2019 as she impressed everyone with her sincerity and dedication. She succeeds Miss World Sri Lanka 2018 Nadia Gyi.

The Sri-Lankan beauty was crowned at the coronation night of Miss World Sri Lanka 2019 on 14th October 2019. Dewmini was crowned by Miss World Sri Lanka 2016 Amritaa De Silva. Dewmini is a 21-year-old stunning beauty and a former student of Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy. She is currently following a diploma at Dreamron College of Art Beauty and aspires to be a professional stylist and model.

Dewmini’s court included Thulja Yang and Deema Chamathca Rupasinghe who were adjudged the first and second runners-up respectively. On the eve of her coronation, she quoted, “It is with great pleasure and humble pride I bear the title of Miss World Sri Lanka 2019. I have come this far with the support of you all and I hope I can make all of you proud at the upcoming Miss World 2019 which is to take place later this year in London. With a promise to bring pride to my country I remain with a heartfelt note of thank you and sincere gratitude to all those who have been by my side through this strenuous yet beautiful journey.”

The coronation night witnessed dance performances of traditional Kandyan style and throughout the evening, the guests were showed the culture and tradition of the country including Rajasthani style outfits of heavily embroidered and stone studded full-length skirts and colourful jackets with foot-long odhnis worn as a veil.

The delegates who competed for the national contest were Amali Munasinghe, Natalie Ferdinands, Deema Chamathca Rupasinghe, Yasasi Kushlani, Dewmini Thathsarani, Himali Herath, Tishanie Silva, Imasha Sathsarani, Mandira Rathnayake, Charuni Silva, Chalani Shehani and Thulja Yang.

Last year, Nadia Gyi represented the country at Miss World 2019 pageant but failed to win any of the positions at the conclusion. Therefore, the country is yet to pioneer its in in Miss World beauty pageant.
