Miss World Vietnam 2022, the 2nd edition of the national pageant, was held on 12th August 2022 at Merry Land, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, Vietnam where Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong was crowned as the new queen at the end of the event finale by Miss World Vietnam 2019 Luong Thuy Linh.
Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong is a 24-year-old Vietnamese model who is currently preparing to represent Vietnam at Miss World 2023. Born in Ðong Nai, Vietnam, Phuong was a bright student in school; she won the second prize for excellent English students at the provincial level in 2016, the third prize in English at the provincial level in 2017. In the 11th grade, Mai Phuong achieved an IELTS score of 6.5.
Not new to the pageantry, Phuong was crowned Miss Ðong Nai University 2018 in 2018 which was the first pageant she competed in. In 2020, the stunning beauty participated in Miss Vietnam 2020 and placed in Top 5 with the special award Beauty with a Purpose.
At Miss World Vietnam 2022, Phuong performed well at the Top 5 Q/A round as well. She was asked a question by Miss Tran Tieu Vy : "If you had to choose between providing 1,000 meals a day and creating 1,000 jobs, what would you choose?" She answered, “During the pandemic, I worked as a volunteer in a kitchen, making 3,000, 5,000 meals a day. These two things are very urgent. Why should we choose one when we can do it in parallel We can create 1,000 jobs, so 1,000 jobs can create millions of meals for the children of the world. And no one will be left behind."
In the Top 2, she received a question from Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska, "In the context of the world's deep and wide integration, many countries are at risk of losing their national identity. What do you think?”
Being fluent in English, Phuong responded, "In the diverse development of the world, I have seen a great integration. When a representative of Miss World came to Vietnam, we received a greeting in Vietnamese. I'm not only talking about the story of greetings, but also the story of language, when any foreigner who comes to Vietnam also uses Vietnamese to communicate. Not only the story of Tet. , banh chung, Vietnamese cultural values brought to the world, but also the ao dai. I call them the most unique, symbolic and identity values. Young people need to be extremely proud, take those values anywhere."
Phoung impressed everyone with her confident demeanor, strong personality, and many talents. A strong orator, the Vietnamese beauty will surely be a strong contender at the international pageant. Miss World 2023 will be the 71st edition of the Miss World which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in 2023. Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
