The crown of Miss Universe is the most prestigious pageant crown, not only because of the prestige it holds but also because of the amount of the crown that costs around 100 Dollars for each one. In the last three editions of the Miss Universe pageant, we've seen the New York skyline inspired crown from the Prague, Czech Republic-based company Diamond International Corporation or DIC that worth a whooping $300,000.

According to a recent report from Reuters, WME/IMG already breached the DIC contract of their 10-year sponsorship as DIC missed a couple of sponsorship payments due to financial crises last August 2016. Just a few days ago IMG sued DIC after it continued to advertise its ties with the Miss Universe even though they already breached their 10 year contract with them that was supposed to run from 2015-2025. The trademark infringement lawsuit seeks for a $2.04 Million worth of payments and specified damages that have been done for breaching the contact.
Now rumour has it that while the case is yet to be cleared in the court, another crown would be used by current Miss Universe winner Iris Mittenaere. Yes, according to insider gossips the Diamond Nexus crown will be the de facto crown that will be used in most of Iris’ public appearances. But that doesn’t automatically mean that we won’t be seeing the DIC crown, it will still be used on occasions but not as frequently as we used to.

Lately, Miss Universe Iris has been posting the pictures of the Diamond Nexus Crown with a caption “Sun and Crown in New York”. The last time we saw Iris wearing the DIC Crown was back in March when she had a homecoming in France, after that all of her official photo shoots were mostly with the DNC. Will this mean that the Diamond Nexus Crown will be back in Miss Universe? Or will there be a new crown? That only time will tell.
